I am not going to post our eight week scan pic, because it’s a little pale blob that only a mother- or father-to-be could get excited about. Suffice to say, it’s growing happily, now measures about 1.5cm and has a heartbeat of about 150bpm.

And that’s after a squirrel bite and minor electrical shock.

Dr E still thinks the squirrel episode was very funny. His advice now is to get lots of rest, be careful about what foods I’m eating, and don’t get too close to squirrels.

I got all teary again seeing it up there on screen, and when Dr E handed Rufus the ultrasound image printouts he looked a bit watery-eyed too.

Nausea, big boobs, weird sleep patterns, headaches etc all perfectly normal and nothing to worry about he says. Rufus swears that when I was changing the doctor told him lots of sex was the best way to cope with the symptoms. I’m a little suspicious.

  1. Wauw, you got bitten by a squirrel… How did that happen? And had an electrical shock… Goodness, be careful with yourself πŸ™‚ Happy to hear everything is looking great!!! Were these events the reason for a second scan or is that normal practice at this clinic? I’m only getting one, scheduled for 6th of January when I’m 8 weeks. Can’t wait…

Merry Christmas and yes we should be bump buddies for sure! πŸ™‚

    • The scan wasn’t because of my series of clumsy mishaps, but I was very glad to have it! They seem to do a lot of scans here – we go back in two weeks, and then two weeks after than again. I’m not complaining! Merry Christmas to you too! xx
